Kanzashi flowers

These Kanzashi Makers work very similarly to the yo yo makers. You fold the fabric inside the plastic template, and then follow a series of numbered stitch holes. Remove the template, pull the thread, voila, a flower! What could be easier?

These were the hottest thing in the Checker Booth at Spring 2011 Quilt Market. Flowers are everywhere, pins, purses, quilts. Check out readymade items and you'll see what I mean.

Kanzashi tsunami is the Japanese art of folding delicate squares of silk into three-dimensional flower petals. This takes the American interpretation a step further, presenting more easily executed flower designs as elements in a variety of fun, fashionable, craft projects. This books also shows you how to make the flowers the "old fashion way" but will have ideas what to do with them once you make them.
